CENTER FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP SLATED TO OPEN IN  YORK COUNTY, FULFILLING GOAL OF THE CITY’S KNOWLEDGE PARK ACTION PLAN

MARCH 18, 2021 - ROCK HILL, SC - Culminating a three year effort and one of the core goals of the Knowledge Park Action Plan of 2019, a group of business owners and entrepreneurs announce the opening of the GRAVITY CENTER, April 12, 2021.

The GRAVITY CENTER is a hub for entrepreneurial collaboration and development in York County. According to the center’s President and Interim Director David Copp Stringer, “The GRAVITY CENTER will bring together the various programs and components of the entrepreneur ecosystem throughout York County into one home.”

The location of the GRAVITY CENTER is 153 South Oakland Ave. where it is anchored by companies such as Insignia Group and the corporate offices of Knowledge Perk.

“A key vision of the City of Rock Hill and of the Knowledge Park Action Plan is to bring together and expand the development of entrepreneurship and ‘homegrown economics.’ The GRAVITY CENTER is the embodiment of that vision. We are partnering with the City, York County, Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation, and the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce to provide a resource center for services to the entrepreneurial community,” says co-founder and Executive Board Member, Ryan Sanderson.

The services of the center will focus on providing space, incubation, mentorship and program support for start-up businesses and entrepreneurs.

“We aim to create a repeatable cycle of attracting new ideas, then assist in the development and support for graduating those ideas and entrepreneurs into successful, thriving businesses throughout York County,” says Vice President, Doug Meyer-Cuno.

According to the group, the GRAVITY CENTER will also launch its own investment fund later this year. “This will provide the center with a unique opportunity to provide ‘seed’ level funding for startups in York County and then support them through the GRAVITY CENTER,” says Tadean Page, the center’s Secretary.

“One of our top priorities,” says Gravity Center Treasurer, Mike Ziemke, “will be to hire an Executive Director for the center. We will begin our search in early April.”
